As a local non-profit, Somerville Baseball Inc. is run solely by volunteers. Without the help and support from various volunteers, we would not be able to run a baseball and softball program for the youth of Somerville. Every year, we need help setting up our fields prior to the season and taking down fences, etc once the season is complete. During the season, we are always in need of managers, coaches, team parents, and other support staff including Board Members, Shack Coordinator, and Fundraising Coordinator.
You never know when your area of expertise and knowledge may come in handy.
Coaches / Team Parents
Any individual that is on the field or in the dugout MUST complete the Rutgers Youth Coaching Certification Course and complete a finger print background check. SBI does our best to provide a night for interested individuals to take the course, however
checking the schedule will provide you with further opportunities and locations to complete the course.
To schedule a background check, please contact Somerville Recreation at (908) 704-6985.
The Rutgers course certification is active for life and only needs to be taken once.
Board Member
As an SBI Board Member, you have a direct hand in the day to day running of our baseball and softball program. Our board consists of volunteers interested in leading efforts
Shack Coordinator
During our baseball/softball seasons, the Snack Shack is arguably our most important fundraising effort. During games and practices, the shack is open for players and spectators to purchase food and beverages, with a portion of sales being put towards new equipment and uniforms. The Shack Coordinator assists the Board in maintaining the Shack inventory and staffing of parents.
